Service: Older Adults, Rehabilitation and Allied Health (ORA)

Contract: Fixed term 2.5 year rotational position, Full time

Salary: $77,087 - $88,627

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

We are excited to offer opportunities for new or recent graduate Occupational Therapists to join our district wide rotational programme in our hospital based services at Wellington, Hutt and Kenepuru Hospitals. We are looking for enthusiastic clinicians who are great communicators, active learners, motivated to ongoing learning and development of clinical skills as occupational therapists.

We are developing our new graduate rotational programme to support education and training in formal and informal ways to support new to practice clinicians to develop the skills and capabilities required in health settings to meet the needs of the New Zealanders in our district. This includes the establishment of an occupational therapy clinical educator position to provide education and clinical coaching.

You will be part of the 2.5 year fixed term rotational programme that provide an opportunity to work across the district in Wellington, Hutt and Kenepuru hospitals and community services. There are a range of varied clinical areas including orthopaedic, trauma, neurosurgery, stroke, medical, surgery inpatient rehabilitation and community rehabilitation.

You will enter a sound mentoring programme with clear clinical competencies to guide and maximise your clinical development and will be supported by a clinical educator and be well supported by friendly, fun and enthusiastic teams, with leadership from dedicated Team Leaders in the Capital City.

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

Across the inpatient services we have occupational therapists across all sites with depth of experience and there are nine rotational positions. We work in the acute setting, assessing and treating patients to contribute to successful discharges and acute hospital flow.

You will be among a network of Occupational Therapists working in hospital services within the acute hospitals, community and specialty services.

  • Registration and current APC with Occupational Therapy Board NZ
  • Excellent time management skills
  • A clear understanding of the health needs of our Māori and Pacific Island communities
  • Demonstrates ability to build rapport with patient and whānau from all backgrounds
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and development
  • NZ drivers licence
