Salary: As per PSA MECA Step 3 - 8, depending on experience

This is an exciting opportunity within our specialist wheelchair and seating service for an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join a supportive team to learn and work with wheelchair users of all ages.

Whilst we would prefer an applicant to have experience in wheelchair and seating assessments, we are able to support growth and development of any therapist who has an active interest in this speciality area. If you are a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist looking to move into a defined field of practice, this could be a role for you.

Our service is focused on timely evidenced based practice for wheelchair users, completing a variety of home, community and clinic based assessments. This is a busy role, where you are guaranteed a varied caseload and will work as part of a dynamic, supportive and experienced allied health team. Regular travel within the surrounding areas of Porirua, Kapiti and Wellington is required.

As the Wheeled Mobility Service is evolving, the requirements and scope of this role may change in order to best meet service needs and match your skills and experience.

The Wheeled Mobility Service (WMS) is part of the Older Adult, Rehabilitation and Allied Health service (ORA) and works with the wider ORA community teams across Wellington, Kenepuru and Kapiti. We work together as part of a wider team to provide a quality service for wheelchair users and their whanau. The Wheeled Mobility Service (WMS) is based at Kenepuru Hospital in the beautiful Porirua community. We provide services for ACC and Ministry of Disabled People

Moū - About you

You will be a motivated Allied Health professional - Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with at least three years general clinical experience. We will consider applications from clinicians who demonstrate initiative, and an active interest in the assessment and provision of wheelchair, seating and postural management. We are looking for a clinician who is confident in their clinical skills and motivated to develop or gain new skills in wheelchair and seating assessment and provision.

 An interest in helping people make the most of their function and maximising their ability to participate in home and community life is essential. We need you to be a skilled communicator, friendly, warm and committed to best practice and great at maintaining relationships with service providers in the community. This role requires you to move through the Enable NZ Wheeled Mobility and Postural Management accreditation process, developing the skills required to assess and provide wheelchair and seating solutions for people across our district.
